Wash, wash away.
Let the water drip
from the shiny rocks
and mirror bright
the hidden light
of your shadowy, stone heart.

Shit

Shadows slumber
silkful in shimmering seas…
Sensationally they sway
shunning from me…

Starfish swim skilfully
skimming the surf
scary sensations seep in side my soul….

Shit!

                                                                                                                                                                                                           Clare Ann Matz -  4/6/2011

How women weep

What horrible sin
did woman commit
to be treated for centuries as slaves, slut, like shit?!

They carry life within and give birth to life in such pain
they provide food and shelter, day after day.
Clean, cook, nurse and feed, day after day, after day, after day.
They calm and caress and send fears away.
Away with a smile, a kiss, so they pray!

Women denied,
of the right to study,
the right  to vote,
deprived of  work
deprived of their human rights
banned from the heavens, barred illumination.

Girls screaming in dismay
women sobbing in despair
widows weeping in the dark!
Hidden because the Cowards can’t stand to see ...
what they have done to their mothers, sisters and companions.

Women without  identity!
Women  deprived of healthcare and security
denied of a place in society
aborted before they are born.
And deprived of their place, their place in history!!

Some can’t  appear in a court of law
not even when accused of murder.

Shot, stabbed, buried, burnt, stoned
Women alone
without the right to defend themselves
even when accused of terrible atrocities.

Women, accused of adultery, when raped
Accused… to hide their own men’s sins.
Relentlessly raped, bought and sold
forced to prostitution and then beaten by law!!

Cowards! Those men that discriminate
and the best jobs withhold and disseminate.
Cowards! Those many who pay them less
so, when women grown old and alone
pennies are the pensions they  live on!

14 girls burnt in the school because the men refused
to  save them without scarves
blocking the doors so they couldn’t escape
is this is the fate
that women must face?

99 lashes of the whip for Sakineh
imprisoned for a confession  obtained with torture.
99 more lashes of the whip for a photo she is not in!
Detained for endless time without proof of her guilt
or the sin she supposedly committed.

200,000 rapes in Walikale, Congo
in the last 12 years.
500 women a day,  gang raped in front of their familiy
by militia searching for gold.

Was the burqua made to hide the endless bruises inflicted?
Beatings by fathers, by husbands,
by their very owns brothers and sons!

Shame on those men who hide their loved ones.
Cowards they hide the mind, they hide the soul!!

Women deprived of their genitals
 in brutal, inexplainable rituals...
Girls screaming in pain, blood spraying in all directions
children infibulated by men that rip out their clits
that sew up their lips and tear at the tender tissue between their legs.

Shame on the governments that permit such disgrace!!
Cowards who can’t face the woman that made  them !
No pleasure for women, no justice, just pain…
Forever... deprived... of their natural ecstasy!

And when the woman survives her  man
at times the widow is thrown  in the flames
to burn to a cinder in his funeral pyre!

Shame coward men!
Shame on us all!
Shame to the world at large!
Shame ! Shame! Shame!!
